Haenyeo are more than divers. They are a living symbol of empowerment, resilience, and women's leadership in Korea, they are guardians of a tradition who have defied gender roles and led sustainable livelihoods long before the world spoke of equity.
In every breath they hold, they carry stories of survival, sisterhood, and strength passed down through generations. Even today, they remain a rare, living heritage, reminding us that true leadership doesn't always come from positions of power, sometimes, it rises from the ocean floor.
Here is to honor the Haenyeo: the heartbeat of Jeju, the spirit of Korea.
